Abstract Variations in energy efficiency and climate gas emissions production of manganese ferroalloys are largely related to the solid-state reduction ores used as raw material production. The gas-solid is known be dependent on ore characteristics, making information factors governing kinetics crucial. A reaction rate analysis thermogravimetric data obtained for Comilog Nchwaning CO-CO 2 atmosphere was performed. Experimental variables were CO partial pressure, particle size, temperature regimes (isothermal/non-isothermal), well heating non-isothermal experiments. effects CO-concentration, rates quantified. It found that both proportional inverse average size. Different sensitivities towards CO-concentration feed determined, where Comilog-ore $$ p_{\text{CO}}^{0.7} p CO 0.7 , p_{\text{CO}}^{1.5} 1.5 . activation estimated 17 kJ/mol, whereas 63 kJ/mol ore.
